27-year-old’s eyes were ‘red and glazed’ when stopped by police
A 27-year-old Douglas man has been banned from the roads for two years after admitting drug driving.
Jamie Tyson Kitching, of Close Cowley, was pulled over by police on Saddle Road, just before 11pm on 11 February, due to a defective rear light.
The officer who stopped him smelt cannabis and noticed Kitching’s eyes were ‘red and glazed’ – a drug wipe test was carried out at the scene showing a positive indication for the Class B substance.
Kitching was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters – a subsequent blood sample showed he had 17.5 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood; the legal limit is two.
At Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday, 16 August, High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also fined him £900 and ordered him to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
He will also have to take, and pass, an extended driving test.
