Support service says finances will be stretched for some over the coming months
A charity on the Isle of Man is hosting a drop-in service which will offer support to households that will struggle with rising costs through the winter period.
The Salvation Army will host its Winter Support Hub on 3 October at its community centre in the Isle of Man Business Park.
On the day, information and guidance will be available on a range of subjects like managing energy costs, keeping warm as temperatures dip, and ways households can make financial changes as more people find themselves struggling to make ends meet.
Some of the groups present will be the Salvation Army’s debt advice, Manx Utilities, Isle of Man Housing Agency, Islands Energy Group and Age Concern among others.
Debbie White, the area debt advice co-ordinator for the charity says: "Through our ongoing service we have discovered that many of our clients have negative budgets and know that this will also be reflected within our wider community.
"Going into the winter months when energy bills inevitably rise, budgets will be stretched and finances will be shifted so many people will feel the pressure and we want to help put plans in place to limit the struggles and so household budgets don’t buckle."
The session will take place between 11am - 2pm.
