23-year-old was three times over the legal limit
A Ballasalla man has been banned from the road after being caught drug driving.
Ryan Mark Sharvin, of The Willows, had three times the legal amount of cannabis in his system when he was stopped by police on 31 October 2022.
The 23-year-old had been pulled over in Crosby, at 7.25pm, after a police officer noted a lighting defect on his vehicle.
They could smell cannabis and Sharvin failed a drug wipe test; he was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters.
Sharvin had initially denied the offence and had been due to stand trial but changed his plea to guilty during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.
His advocate told the court: "He will, no doubt, have learnt a lesson through this."
Fining Sharvin £1,200, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £2,000, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also disqualified him from driving for two years.
He'll remain disqualified until he’s taken and passed an extended test.
