50-year-old was 'just over the limit'
A Douglas man has been banned from the road after being caught drug driving.
Carl Anthony Main, of Watterson’s Lane, was stopped by police on Braddan Road at 8.20am on 6 September.
Officers noted he was clammy and had ‘pinpoint pupils’ – the 50-year-old failed a drug wipe test and was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters.
Subsequent blood tests showed he was over the legal limit.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse the prosecutor told the court: “He’s just over the limit but unfortunately a limit has been set and that limit is in law.”
Main’s advocate said his client had been offered cannabis by a friend at a party adding: “It was a regrettable mistake that my client made the night before.”
Disqualifying Main from driving for two years, and until he’s taken and passed an extended driving test, Magistrates also fined him £750 and ordered him to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
