22-year-old banned for two years
A Douglas man has been banned from the road for two years after admitting driving under the influence of cannabis.
Nathan James Roberts, of Hillside Avenue, was stopped by police on the Old Castletown Road, just after 10.30pm on 6 February, due to a faulty headlight.
The officer noticed the 22-year-old’s eyes were glazed and could smell cannabis – a drug wipe of his Ford Fiesta showed a positive indication for the Class B substance.
He was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters where a blood sample was taken – this showed he was double the legal limit.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also fined him £800 and ordered him to pay £75 in prosecution costs; Roberts must also take and pass an extended driving test.
