58-year-old left wife in 'distressed' state after she fled property
A Santon man has been fined £750 and told he’s ‘old enough to know his limits’ after an argument with his wife.
Police were called to John Robert Johnston’s home, on Fairways Drive, just after 11pm on 14 December.
A neighbour had raised the alarm after hearing shouting, crashing and banging.
Johnston’s wife then fled their property in a ‘distressed state’ claiming her husband had broken her phone.
At Douglas Courthouse the 58-year-old pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
His advocate told the court: “This was an argument after a night out.
"He wishes to emphasise his remorse and apology and hopes not to be back before the court ever again.”
Fining Johnston, and ordering him to pay £125 in prosecution costs, Magistrates told him: “I’m sure you’re quite ashamed to find yourself in this position.”
