But residents may have to use homes to pay
A fund for older persons' residential and nursing care could soon be established in the Island.
Tynwald earlier this week approved a series of recommendations on services for the elderly - in light of concerns that most care home beds are unaffordable.
The court voted on an amended form of one controversial suggestion that users should have assets such as their homes 'exploited' to pay for care.
Ministers opposed the term 'exploit' - and the revised recommendation will now instead see Tynwald explore the potential of an equity release scheme.
