Latest hike has now come into force
The latest hike in electricity prices adds two pence per unit which equates to around 10 per cent.
The new tariff change, which took effect on Saturday, means the average domestic customer will see their annual cost rise from £942 to £1,003.
Earlier this year it had been assumed the price per unit would have to jump 30 per cent, but a drop in the wholesale price of gas has enabled the MUA to minimise the increase.
