
Elizabeth Quirk won yesterday's by-election for the vacant seat on Douglas Council.
Mrs Quirk, of Alexander Drive, polled 289 votes to Michael Gelling's 132 and will now serve in Athol Ward until the 1st of May 2016.
There were three spoilt papers and the turnout was 11.2%
The by-election was called after the resignation of Alan Quirk from the local authority.
