Pumping equipment dispatched to crash site
Fire services say they had to help rescue the occupants of several vehicles involved in two serious incidents on the Island's roads today.
Just before 12.30pm two pumping appliances - one from Ramsey and another from Kirk Michael - were dispatched to a 'serious' three vehicle road traffic accident on the Lezayre Road.
Three people were rescued from two vehicles, and were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Around the same time, another serious accident occurred in the south of the Island on the Gansey shore road.
Two vehicles were involved, and appliances from Castletown and Port Erin used cutting and stabilisation equipment to help rescue the occupants.
Both roads were closed for a considerable time while emergency services dealt with the incidents, which emergency services admit 'stretched their capacity'.
