People asked to avoid Heritage Trail due to 'significant smoke'
*Douglas Road has now reopened*
People are being asked to avoid the Heritage Trail in Peel this afternoon (6 May).
It’s due to a fire at the 10th hole on Peel Golf Course.
There is ‘significant smoke’ in the area and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service say it’s best avoided ‘for your own safety’.
Police have closed the A1 Douglas Road between the junction with Queens Drive and Albany Road and the Tynwald crossroads in St Johns.
Motorists are asked to find an alternative way into or out of Peel.
Peel Golf Course is currently closed.
Bus Vannin says services 5 and 6 will divert via Ballacraine, Poortown Road into Peel and vice versa until the incident has been cleared.
