
The Chief Minister has confirmed that child benefit will be means-tested in the Island from 2014.
Allan Bell made the announcement during a statement at the start of this month's Tynwald.
In a wide-ranging speech outlining government priorities, Mr Bell described universal benefits as 'no longer sustainable'.
He didn't specify any earnings 'ceiling' for child benefit, but said precious public money will in future be directed at those in most need:
