Study expected to take four to six months
The environmental impact of the proposed Ramsey Bay marina is to be investigated in the coming months.
The company behind the proposals has confirmed a detailed Environmental Impact Assessment, taking four to six months, will begin shortly.
Ramsey Marina Limited has issued a statement to clarify its proposals following concerns raised on social media.
It says changes have been made to the design, to minimise the impact on the area, including rotating the plans by 90 degrees.
These amendments, it's claimed, will create a gap between Queen's Pier and the marina requiring seven hectares of beach rather than the previously proposed 12.
The site remains in a nature reserve but RML says constructing artificial reefs will help create a new marine eco-system and it hopes the EIA study confirms these benefits.
The project is forecast to create 200-300 jobs with an estimated increase in visitor expenditure of £30m per year.
