This weekend, epilepsy charities around the world will mark Purple Day - an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about the condition.

It affects the brain and causes frequent seizures, which are bursts of electrical activity in the brain that temporarily affect how it works.
Bethany de Legh-Runciman is the secretary of EPSAiom - the Epilepsy Charity.
