21-year-old fined £500
A Ballasalla man's been fined after vehicle examiners found two bald tyres on his car after a crash.
Twenty-one-year-old Ryan Mark Sharvin, of The Willows, admitted having defective tyres through a coroner's admission at Douglas Courthouse.
Police were called to Shore Road in Gansey just before 9pm on 16 July.
He told officers he'd lost control after a rear tyre blew out.
Magistrates heard the blue Ford Focus was seized and taken to the test centre in Tromode.
There experts found his nearside front tyre had no tread while his offside tyre had worn down to the cord.
Sharvin apologised to the court and said he now fully understood the importance of checking his tyres.
He was fined £500 and ordered to pay £50 towards prosecution costs.
Magistrates also imposed three penalty points on his licence.
