Currently no ID checks required when arriving by boat, confirms Department of Home Affairs
The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed there is no legal requirement to show ID when travelling to the Isle of Man by boat.
Minister Jane Poole-Wilson faced questions on what data is collected about passenger movements and whether the government can track people overstaying illegally.
Police already use passenger lists to cross-reference who is travelling to and from the Island.
But the government plans to introduce new legislation that would also enable the use of facial recognition technology:
