Island teenager awaits treatment in the UK
The mother of a seriously ill teenager, in need of a specialist bed in a UK hospital, has paid tribute to medical and nursing staff in the Island.
Tanya Davies's daughter Callie was admitted to Noble's hospital four weeks ago with gall stones, but a complication has led to pancreatitis.
Callie, who's 17, needs treatment at Liverpool Royal Hospital, but remains on-Island due to a shortage of beds at the Merseyside unit.
Mrs Davies raised the family's plight on social media at the weekend and has appealed to health minister Kate Beecroft to intervene.
She says a transfer was deemed necessary from the very start.
