Farms celebrated for conservation efforts as Chough awards announced

The awards themselves recognise success in combining commercial farming with conservation initiatives

The Manx Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group has announced winners off the annual Chough awards.

Farms of all sizes entered the 'conservation challenge' which celebrates and encourages agriculturalists to protect the Isle of Man's biodiversity.

In the small farms category, Ballacosnahan in Patrick took the crown.  Eairy Moar Farm in Glen Helen was runner up and Ballakissack Farm in Santon was highly commended.

In the large farms category, Ballafayle in Maughold stood on the podium as winners, Ballashamrock Farm in Port Soderick was runner up and Glendown Farm in Port Erin was highly commended.

Glendown Farm was given a special nod for long term commitment to habitat management.

The overall winner of the Chough Award 2023 was Ballafayle.
