Eight fewer charged than in 2018
Fewer people were charged with drink-driving over the festive period than were the previous year.
Eleven have been charged, compared to 19 in 2018.
Five others were arrested, with three of those being released having provided a breath specimen below the legal limit.
The two remaining people were bailed pending further tests and enquiries.
The police's festive anti drink-driving campaign ran from Friday, 29 November to Wednesday, 1 January.
Three hundred and twenty-three vehicles were stopped in that period, compared to 349 in 2018.
Of the 16 people arrested, 15 were men and one was a woman.
Inspector Jamie Tomlinson of the Operational Support Group says fewer arrests show the message is getting through to motorists Island-wide, adding it's also very pleasing the number of breath tests administered was significantly lower than the previous year.
That figure had almost halved - 21 compared to 38.
