Damian Ciappelli to stand in September's General Election

A fifth candidate has announced their intention to stand in Douglas North in September's General Election.

Damian Ciappelli is an advocate and also chair of the Positive Action Group.

If elected, his priorities would include growing and strengthening the Island's economy, tackling government overspend, improving healthcare, addressing the housing crisis, connectivity, and making sure the Island is a place where young people can build a good life.

Damian says: "I've been fortunate to build a career and a life on the Isle of Man, and I now want to use that experience to give something back.

"We have a great deal to be proud of, but there are also some serious challenges ahead.

"Government cannot simply continue spending and borrowing without addressing the underlying problems. At the same time, we need to protect the services people rely on and create the conditions for our economy to grow.

"I want the Isle of Man to remain a safe, prosperous and caring place where young people see a future, working families can afford a home, businesses want to invest and our older generation receives the support it deserves."

Also standing in the constituency are David Ashford, Jason Cheetham, Peter Washington and Hugo Yates.

The General Election is taking place on Thursday 24 September.
