39-year-old also ordered to pay victim compensation
A Douglas man has been fined £600 after punching a stranger in the face in a bar in an unprovoked attack.
Darryl Paul Johnson, of Summerhill Village, approached the man in 1886, on Regent Street, on 2 March.
The 39-year-old left him dizzy and with a cut and bleeding nose.
At Douglas Courthouse Johnson admitted common assault with his advocate describing it as ‘odd behaviour’.
Ordering Johnson to pay the man £350 in compensation Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told him: “It was certainly an extremely bizarre decision.
“If that was your idea of a joke, I would suggest you might want to rethink your humour.”
Johnson will also have to pay £50 in prosecution costs.
