New tarmac surface on southern stretch
Road markings are being added to a newly-tarmaced stretch of Douglas promenade today (17 March).
Infrastructure chiefs say the upgrade of the southern end of the prom has been completed ahead of schedule, and the road is now fully open to traffic.
DoI crews will finish road lining and marking the pedestrian crossing by the Villa Marina if conditions remain dry, along with minor works in the disabled parking bay in front of the Gaiety theatre
Barriers, cones and other signs will be removed over the weekend.
There were rush-hour traffic queues several mornings as traffic diverted from Bucks Road - where gas mains works are underway - funnelled onto the prom via Broadway.
The DoI is thanking the public for their patience and cooperation.
