Three Douglas fire crews were called out this morning following reports of a blaze at Springfield Grange in Farmhill.
The fire is thought to have been caused by an industrial washing machine next to the kitchen area on the ground floor.
Two fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly dealt with the incident.
Members of staff activated the alarm system, and everybody was safely evacuated from the building.
The fire service says the incident highlights the importance of having well-rehearsed emergency procedures.
A crew from Laxey provided cover at the Douglas station.
