Residents advised to test smoke and fire detections systems regularly
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to ensure smoke and fire detection systems are tested and maintained regularly.
It's after three appliances from the Douglas station attended to a structure fire in a block of flats in Braddan yesterday (5 September).
On arrival, the crews were met with a fire within the kitchen and a breathing apparatus team, equipped with a hose reel, were used to extinguish it.
A further two teams were subsequently deployed to check the adjacent flats and ensure there was no fire spread or other immediate hazards.
