Anyone planning a bonfire is advised to inform the ESJCR prior to avoid false call outs
Firefighters were out in full force in Onchan last night (2 December) responding to two separate incidents.
The first occurred at a home on Hawthorn Close, where a small fire broke out in the bathroom, possibly caused by an electrical fault.
Isle of Man Fire and Rescue reported that the power was isolated, and the fire was extinguished using a positive pressure fan to clear the smoke.
The second call-out was due to a large bonfire in the Little Mill area.
Although it was a controlled burn, it was treated as an incident because the Emergency Services Joint Control Room had not been notified in advance.
Anyone planning a bonfire is advised to inform the control room at 697327 before lighting and once the burn is finished, in order to reduce the number of false alarm calls.
