Blazes in Douglas and on a railway embankment prompt fresh calls for caution amid dry weather conditions
Firefighters have tackled two separate wildfires on the Isle of Man just a day after authorities issued a warning about increased fire risks due to warm and dry weather.
Douglas crews were mobilised to reports of a grass fire in Greeba, deploying more than 15 firefighters to prevent it from spreading.
High-pressure hose reels and a water relay system were used, with crews on scene for around two hours damping down hot spots.
At the same time, crews from Rushen responded to a separate fire on a railway embankment.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service, along with the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, had warned earlier this week that uplands, heathlands and woodlands are particularly vulnerable in current conditions.
People are being urged not to light barbecues, campfires or stoves in the countryside, to dispose of cigarettes and litter properly, and to report any signs of smoke or fire by calling 999.
Authorities warn that even small sparks - including from vehicle exhausts - can ignite dry vegetation and lead to serious incidents.
