Occupants evacuated and fire safely extinguished
Firefighters were called out to reports of a structure fire in Douglas this morning, understood to be on Victoria Road.
Crews from Douglas and Laxey attended the scene after the call out at 11am where they discovered a fire in a bedroom within the property.
All occupants had safely evacuated before the fire service arrived.
Four firefighters extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet before using a thermal imaging camera to check for any remaining hot spots.
Crews remained at the scene for around one hour before the incident was brought to a safe conclusion.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Services says: "This incident serves as an important reminder of the vital role working smoke alarms play in protecting lives.
"They provide an early warning of fire, giving occupants valuable time to escape safely.
"Please take a few moments to check that your smoke alarms are fitted, tested regularly, and in good working order."
