Warning not to cause fires during warm weather
Members of the public are being asked to be extra careful after a fire around Skye Hill yesterday (Tues)
The alarm was raised around 5.30 in the evening after reports of smoke and firemen in a specialist off-road vehicle found a compound with an old trailer and vehicle ablaze.
They were close to a disused scramble course and firemen used a hose reel to extinguish flames.
The cause of the fire isn't known at this stage.
Firemen say incidents like this can have a huge impact on emergency services and events especially at this time of year.
They point out if the the incident had happened while the road was closed it could have caused a red flag situation and delay in racing.
