No injuries but industrial unit damaged
The Island's fire service is thanking members of the public who helped them at the scene of a large fire in Hills Meadow.
Two appliances were called out at 9.45 am Tuesday (11 Oct) where they were met with a developing fire at an industrial unit.
Crews wore breathing apparatus and used two hosereels and a jet to extinguish the rapidly developing fire.
A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for fire spread and damage to one of the commercial units.
The fire was confined to the area around the unit, which contained a large amount of rubbish, though three vehicles parked closeby were also damaged.
No-one was injured and neighbouring businesses were not affected.
Fire service chiefs are reminding people to never leave fires unattended and ensure they are always properly extinguished.
