Called to facility at 2.40pm yesterday
Firefighters have worked through the night to bring a blaze at the energy from waste plant under control.
They were called to the facility, on Richmond Hill, at 2.40pm yesterday (5 November) after a fire in a waste pit.
Crew remained on site until 7am this morning to work with staff who continued to turn over the blaze and dampen it down.
Investigations are now taking place into the cause of it.
Operator SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK has told Manx Radio the fire was originally extinguished on site using water cannons but then reignited.
It says it did not affect the surrounding area or roads network.
The plant will re-open on Monday to receive waste.
