Local industry could benefit from Baltic uncertainty
The cruise liner 'Hamburg' is scheduled to arrive in Manx waters today (Wednesday 23 April), setting this year's cruise season in motion.
Operated by Plantours Kreuzfahrten, the 420 passenger, luxury cruise ship is due to arrive in Douglas for 1pm and staying in the bay until 11pm tonight.
The season will run through until the middle of September with hopes to provide another boost to the Island's visitor economy.
A total of 45 cruise ships are due to visit the Isle of Man between now and 15 September, though that figure is subject to change.
The largest of the visitors will be 'Carnival Legend' which is due to bring 2,124 passengers to our shores on Friday, 28 August.
Meanwhile, the conflict in Ukraine has meant Baltic ports are being crossed off cruise companies' itineraries in exchange for destinations like Douglas.
