Coaches of a disability football team say it is a 'huge' step forward for the Isle of Man.

The Onchan AFC Learning Disability and Neurodivergent Team was set up last summer (2025) for children aged 11-15.

The club was the first on the Island to set up a team of its kind.

Around 15 players turn up weekly, with training sessions separated by ability rather than age.

Coaches Ben Melling and Conner Thompson say the team is important not only for the game, but for the players themselves:

Training sessions take place on Friday evenings from 6-7pm at Centre 21, Greenfield Road, Douglas.

Formal diagnosis is not required to take part.
