Four-year period for DDA
It's now illegal to discriminate against those with disabilities in the Island.
The first phase of a major piece of legislation, drafted by Tynwald a decade ago, came into force on Thursday (15th).
By 2020, the law will have come fully into effect - and businesses and services must begin to make extra provisions for those with extra care needs.
The Act, which has been described as 'inevitable' by the Department of Health and Social Care, has been welcomed by disabled people and businesses alike.
DHSC Chief Executive Dr Malcolm Couch elaborated on its scope.
