First power outage at hospital declared a 'success'

And there'll be another one this evening (27 June)

The first of three planned power outages to replace electrical switchgear at Noble's Hospital has been declared a success by Manx Care.

Originally planned for Monday evening (24 June) it was delayed for 24-hours due to travel delays for some of the engineers involved in the process.

You can find out more HERE.

The outage was managed as an internal critical incident using a common command structure.

Work commenced at 9pm and concluded at 2am with the incident officially 'stood down' 45 minutes later.

The next planned power outage will take place tonight (27 June) between 9pm and 1am.

Manx Care's Chief Executive Teresa Cope said: "I just want to say a huge thank you to all of our colleagues who worked tirelessly in the affected areas - those who came in as additional support for the frontline workers and the extensive team of Department of Infrastructure engineers on-site who ensured that the work ran smoothly with minimal disruption to services.

"We have extensive protocols and precautions in place to ensure that those who need treatment during these planned outages will get it."
