Committee told of inadequacies
'Fit to work' tests on the Island were unsympathetic to those with rare illnesses and deeply flawed - so says Islander Nigel Brown, who has ME.
He says assessors had no professional understanding of some conditions and used a 'tick-box' system to judge claims.
A Tynwald committee is investigating possible improvements to the system - it this week heard evidence from Mr Brown and others on their experiences with the test.
Personal capability assessments were undertaken by Dependability Limited, but are currently suspended whilst under review.
Mr Brown says many elements of the process just didn't make sense:
