He was still three times over limit morning after night out
A Douglas man who’d been out drinking heavily was still three times over the limit on his way to work the next morning, a court’s heard.
Forty-eight-year-old Linus Lange Malangfe of Queen’s Promenade appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted drink driving on the New Castletown Road on 5 August.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain told the hearing a bus driver dialled 999 at around 7:45am after watching Malangfe’s car weaving from side to side.
The court heard Malangfe’s Honda was on the wrong side of the road negotiating Blackboards Corner.
His advocate told the hearing he’d been drinking the night before but mistakenly thought it was safe to drive.
He was sentenced to 12 months probation supervision and 120 hours of community service, as well as being handed a five-year driving ban and ordered to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
