Four spaces for 37 apartments
A local resident has objected to a plan to transform a former nurses' home after it emerged there would be four car parking spaces for 37 apartments.
The Department of Health and Social Care has applied for permission to convert the building, on Westmoreland Road in Douglas, into flats and a cafe.
In its proposals the department says it would provide two electric vehicle spaces and two more accessible spaces.
That's now sparked an objection from a nearby householder.
The scheme would see 20 one-bedroomed, and 17 two-bedroomed apartments, which would normally need 54 parking spaces under current planning policies.
However it does provide a large number of bicycle storage spaces.
The objector describes the planned parking provision as totally insufficient adding nearby businesses already account for a large amount of on-street parking.
They add it's unrealistic to think tenants won't have cars and say a cycle park won't solve that problem.
