Berthing for Mersey terminal project queried
Investigations have begun into how a floating landing stage in the river Mersey would service a new ferry terminal at Prince's Half Tide Dock.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer confirmed in the House of Keys today (13 June) initial feasibility studies for a scheme to replace the current Pier Head facility, are complete.
The Manx government is weighing options for a new terminal, and and has won Tynwald funding approval to develop the Half Tide Dock site half a mile up-river.
However, tidal conditions mean a floating landing stage or a major dredging scheme will be needed for passenger vessels to berth.
Mr Harmer promised his team will research the most suitable engineering solution, after Mr Ashford raised his concerns:
