Downing Street overturned county council decision last week
Friends of Earth Isle of Man has expressed concern about the decision to allow fracking in an area of Lancashire just outside Blackpool.
Whilst the county council had turned down Cuadrilla's application for the development of a site to extract shale gas, last week that the decision was overturned by the UK government in the interests of national importance.
Cat Turner from FOE IOM says the decision increases the British Isles dependency on fossil fuels and damages the likelihood of proper resources being put into renewable sources - to say nothing of direct environmental concerns.
