Open government campaigner sees tribunal favour him, for a third time
The ongoing legal battle concerning the UK Home Office and the crown dependencies, has resulted in a 'victory for transparency' according to a former politician.
A tribunal has ruled that a freedom of information request made by Anthony Webber, is exempt from any appeal from the British and Island governments.
Mr Webber, who was a states assembly member in Guernsey for 13 years, filed his request in 2016.
He asked that Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man disclose their correspondence with the home office pertaining to their policy of resettling syrian refugees.
This is the third judgement which favoured the release of such discussions in spite of joint appeals by the crown dependencies.
However, on this occaision, the upper-tier tribunal has now refused their right to dispute the decision.
