Former chief minister calls for reintroduction of government mortgage scheme

Tony Brown says saving a deposit is one of the hardest things for first-time buyers with rising rents

The lack of a government mortgage scheme is the biggest block for young people getting on the property ladder, according to a former chief minister.

Ahead of the 2021 general election, housing was one of the main issues that dominated the campaign trail.

Newly-elected Castletown commissioner Tony Brown has been speaking on the Mannin Line.
