Manx resident re-tells story of 1990 riot

The former governor of Strangeways Prison – and spokesperson of Manx passenger watchdog Travelwatch– will appear on TV screens tonight.

Brendan O'Friel is starring in the Channel 5 documentary Strangeways Riot: 25 Days of Mayhem at 9pm.

A team from the channel visited the Island in October in order to interview him as part of the re-telling of the story of the UK's worst prison riot.

Mr O'Friel said during his time in charge of the jail he did his best to improve things:
