Chris Thomas takes on the role following Alex Allinson's departure
A lobby group set up in response to the planned increase in the Island’s minimum wage hopes the newly appointed treasury minister will be more open to dialogue.
The Local Economy Forum says engagement with previous ministers has been limited, but its secretary, Brett Martin, is hopeful Chris Thomas will take a different approach.
Mr Thomas has replaced Dr Alex Allinson at Treasury, with the chief minister citing differences over policy direction as the reason for the change.
Mr Martin says he believes a more measured, less rushed approach to raising the minimum wage would be in the Island’s best interests:
