Minister outlines position in Keys
There will be a full consultation before a decision is made on whether to corporatise the Isle of Man Post Office.
Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly outlined the position in the House of Keys today.
Last month, Tynwald supported the principle of corporatisation but opposed proposals contained in an independent report, stressing the Island would not benefit from running the post office as a state-owned company rather than a statutory board.
Today, Onchan MHK Peter Karran said it was essential safeguards were in place and Tynwald should retain some form of control over the running of the post office with no commercial confidentiality.
Mr Skelly agreed and said a consultation was appropriate:

Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
Charges now in place for those sending parcels to the EU
Creamery managing director to leave role
Fast-tracked legislation was designed to close 'loophole of expanding problem'
