Interim Public Health director says they're building on experience from flu vaccine
The Isle of Man's interim Director of Public Health has predicted future Covid vaccines could contain protection for as many as four different variants within a single dose.
It's after the announcement that the Island would see a new Moderna vaccine which targets the original strain and a newer Omicron variant offered from the autumn onwards.
It's understood that this new vaccine will be rolled out as part of the existing vaccine programme to all eligible individuals, but those attending a booster jab appointment won't specifically be offered the new vaccine over other available doses.
Professor Hugo van Woerden says creating a booster to include every variant isn't possible but points advances in the vaccine that could be seen in the future:
