Planning application to be debated
The future of the former Marine Biological Station in Port Erin will be put under the spotlight tomorrow (28 March).
The planning committee is meeting to discuss an application to transform the site into a mixed purpose development.
If approved it would comprise of exhibition space, retail outlets, restaurants and 75 apartments.
Despite support from the local commissioners, and other consulted parties including the Department of Infrastructure, planning officers will recommend that the application is refused.
They've cited design issues and concerns that adequate provisions have not been made in relation to potential rock fall in the vicinity.
