Approval sought to borrow funds from HSBC
Garff Commissioners are set to invest more than £50,000 in new street lights along the Mines Road in Laxey.
The local authority is seeking the Department of Infrastructure's approval to borrow the sum from HSBC, which could see rates go up a penny in the pound next year.
It's to coincide with a project by Manx Utilities to replace infrastructure along the entire Mines Road, which began at the end of September.
The existing lighting columns are being removed by MU, with Garff Commissioners financing the purchase of 18 new LED units to go in their stead.
It's said the new lights will be of the same 'heritage style' as the ones by the village Rose Garden.
