Local authority offer on table
An Island local authority wants to take on the job of maintaining public footpaths - but says it isn't allowed to.
Garff Commissioners have offered to clear paths in Lonan and Maughold, if the infrastructure department passes on the budget allocated for the job.
The DoI turned down the suggestion - but has since said it would welcome local authorities clearing rights of way in their areas, out of their own budgets.
Concerns have been raised in recent weeks that some paths in the Island are so overgrown, they've become difficult to walk along.
