
Deputy Chief Constable Gary Roberts has been named as the successor to Mike Langdon as the Island's chief constable.
The announcement was made at a briefing at the Department of Home Affairs' headquarters on Woodbourne Road this afternoon.
Mr Roberts, who's 49, was the only local candidate among nine applicants, and takes up the post on January 1 next year.
He started as a constable in Douglas 28 years ago and rose through the ranks to reach the top position.
