The chief minister says he can understand Island householders' frustration at the latest gas price rise.
From 12 September, a 2.9% increase will come into force for all gas tariffs, while standing charges will go up by 3%.
The prolonged spell of warm weather has seen a substantial drop in gas consumption, pushing down profits - a trend Manx Gas insists it has to reverse.
The company says it has to maintain reasonable profit levels to ensure a reliable service and future investment in the Island's gas network.
Chief Minister Allan Bell says government is working with Manx Gas to discuss a regulation structure which provides more control over prices.
But he concedes bill payers are unlikely to support price rises, whatever the reason:.
